everyone. Members listened to Lucas Rinken speak about interesting information from eSAGI.
Some years ago Lucas started writing articles for our blog, based on this information. He wrote about Olive Schreiner, Dr Gerard Leendert Moerdijk , Christiaan Rudolf de Wet, FW de Klerk, The curse on the de Wets, the Louws and the clergymen, the spelling of names, Faure, a family of ministers, unusual and amusing surnames, cannons and strong men, The Brink family, and the Lady of Mystery, Beatrice Gurney.

Lucas Rinken presented the chairman’s Extra Mile Award to John Stephens for his dedicated and outstanding service to the West Gauteng branch. This award is well deserved.
Thank you to Petro Meyer for remembering Father’s Day. Each father received a chocolate and wishes for Father’s Day.

Two members have injuries and could not attend the meeting . Anna Esterhuizen has broken her ankle in two places and is still incapacitated. Her husband Herman is also unwell. Donna Viljoen has fractured her hip.
Louise Dick has had a stroke and is slowly learning to speak again and to walk with the aid of a frame.
We wish all of you a speedy recovery.
A scrapbooking workshop is planned for 4th August. The cost will be R50. If anyone is interested in participating please contact Petro Meyer.
We are experimenting with finding a suitable place to hold our meetings, in order to allow members to go to the library without disturbing the meeting.
